THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT (2010)
Lisa Cholodenko
Much of what we believe and how we form ourselves are generally based on society's conventions. In here, we meet an unconventional family faced with the usual familial issues. By then, it's not about what's odd or not, what's the norm or otherwise. But just how simply yet profoundly important to have a solid establishment of relationships at home--- an appreciation of the institution that is often taken for granted these days: the family.
Lisa Cholodenko's movie is a refreshing treat for female partnerships out there who have to go through the same parenting and child-rearing challenges, albeit without a father figure. Cholodenko's tender and bittersweet approach is a bonus, much like a mother nurturing her life's great blessing.
