120 FLAVORS: Solo Travel

Have you been wanting to travel solo? But have often been hampered with feelings of anxiety, fright or apprehension?

Solo travel is the ultimate self-indulgence! Traveling by yourself allows you to do anything you want, the way you want, at any time, at your own pace! No one  dictates what to do next or where to go, it is all up to you the moment you step foot outside your home. You get to tailor-fit your trip with what you want to see and experience. There s no need to argue with an indecisive friend during the tour or wait for that sleepyhead lover to wake up from his/her slumber at 2 in the afternoon. You are out maximizing your time in the great outdoors!

By travelling alone, you also get to discover more of yourself. Once you embark on this journey, there is no one else to depend on. So you have to be extra prepared and alert!

Here are a few tips:

Research. Before going to your destination, make sure to read blogs, travel magazines and/or books about the place. Monitor the news, and ask tips from friends who have already been there. Ask for tips on how to maximize your budget, what to expect during your travel period, where to stay/eat, local spots, etc.

Always carry an identification card. Whether you re traveling locally or abroad, have a valid I.D. that you could use in case people want to verify your identity. It is encouraged to photocopy them and keep a copy in the hotel, just in case bad luck comes your way and it gets lost. It s also extra helpful and convenient if you scan and save them in your online storage such as email or Dropbox.

Are you excited to list down the places you want to go and explore by yourself? Don t let that excitement die down yet! We will have more tips coming your way in Traveling Solo Part 2!
